Obituary of Margaret Musson

Margaret W. Musson, age 89, died Saturday, March 8, 2008, at the Frederick Mennonite Community. She was the widow of Donald MacMillan Musson and the daughter of the late George W. and Emma (Schneider) Weaver. Although born in Philadelphia, PA, Margaret grew up in Westwood, NJ and graduated from Westwood High School in 1935. As a young woman, Margaret had worked in New York City as a secretary for A.S. Barnes Publishers as well as for Esso. She married her husband in 1944 after he returned from serving with the Marines in the south Pacific during World War II. She then became a homemaker and through her husband's career with the Texaco Corporation, she lived in several metropolitan areas in the U.S. as well as abroad, including Brussels, Belgium and Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Around the time of her husband's retirement, the couple settled in Atlanta, Georgia, where they lived for over 20 years. Mrs. Musson dedicated much time to volunteer work throughout her life. She was a Red Cross Grey Lady for the Atlanta, Georgia VA Hospital for twenty years and an on-going member of the Atlanta Humane Society Auxiliary. She and her husband had also been active in the literary action program in the Atlanta region. In the year 2000, the Mussons relocated to Pottstown in order to be closer to family. Following the move to Pottstown, Mrs. Musson began to actively attend New Covenant Baptist Church and also participated in activities at the Pottstown Salvation Army. She resided at the Frederick Mennonite Community during the last year of her life. Surviving Mrs. Musson are two sons: Bradley, husband of Lori Reinhart Musson, of Pottstown, PA, and Donald M. Musson, Jr., husband of Cheryl, of Dunellen, NJ. Her older sister, June Harshaw, of Honey Brook, PA, and four grandchildren, also survive her. In addition to her husband, her younger sister, Mary Suzannah Trapkin, of Akron, OH, preceded her in death. Friends and family are invited to attend a celebratory memorial service to be held at the New Covenant Baptist Church, North Hanover Street in Pottstown, on Saturday, March 22nd, with a greeting period beginning at 10:30 am and the service commencing at 11 am.
