Obituary of William J. Eichelberger
William “Bill” James Eichelberger, 87, of Asheboro, NC, formerly of Glenside, PA, passed away on January 8, 2023, in Pottstown, PA. Born in Langhorne, PA, on April 12, 1935, Bill was the son of the late Andrew Eichelberger and Estelle (Bilger) Crutchfield, and stepson of the late Mason Crutchfield.
Bill graduated from Girard College in Philadelphia, PA, in 1953, and then started his career as a self-employed painting contractor. He was a former member of First United Methodist Church in Asheboro, NC, and Crescentville United Methodist Church in Lawndale, PA, where he participated in the church choirs. He was even a choir director for some time. He was also a member of the Abington Choral Club and William L. Elkins Lodge # 271 in Philadelphia, PA. In his spare time, he enjoyed volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, taking Molly to cheer others as a therapy dog, and listening to classical music.
Bill is survived by his children, William Eichelberger, Wendy Eichelberger, Sheryl Hoch, and Daniel Eichelberger; his grandchildren, Michael (& Nicole), Jessica, Larissa (& Armando), Casey, Danica, and Nyah; his great-grandchildren, Juliette, Logan, Arianna, Brayden, Kyana, and MJ; and his four-legged friend, Molly. He was predeceased by his wife, Doris (Snyder) Eichelberger.
