Obituary of Laura M. Rybel

Laura May (Gibson) Rybel, 97, passed away on December 25, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Coatesville, PA, on December 14, 1925, Laura was the daughter of the late Robert and Edna (Gable) Gibson.

 

Laura began her career working as a waitress for the Collegeville Inn, and worked for many other restaurants in the area including SunnyBrook Ballroom, Perkiomen Bridge Hotel, Valley Forge Hotel, Bungalow Inn, Milo’s Country House, and The Shuhler House. She loved taking care of people and ensuring they were having a good time. Laura was a longtime member of the Pottstown Elks Lodge #814, where she also waitressed and volunteered at many breakfasts and special events. Outside of waitressing, she had a small business of making and selling ceramics. Laura always had a smile on her face, laughter on her lips, and enjoyed joking with those around her. 

 

Laura is lovingly remembered by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Vicky Nimmerichter Jr.; her daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Glenn Sibley; her grandchildren, Kimberly (& Caleb) Weaner, Cristen (& Darius) Clemons, John Nimmerichter III, Jason (& Lauren) Sibley, and Alison (& Josh) Bloch; and her nine great-grandchildren.

 

Laura was predeceased by her husband, Edward Rybel; her son and granddaughter; her brothers, Robert Gibson, Samuel Gibson, Harry Gibson, and John Gibson; and her sister, Sally Nimmerichter.

 

Visitation will take place on January 6, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Houck & Gofus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown, PA 19464.
