Mary Heydt

Obituary of Mary Heydt

Mary Krauss (Hoffman) Heydt, age 96, entered her heavenly home on September 19, 2022. She passed away at Frederick Living where she had been a resident for 14 years. She was the wife of Earl L. Heydt, sharing 48 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in 1998.

Born in Niantic, PA, on March 12, 1926, she was the youngest daughter of the late Sydney and Lottie (Krauss) Hoffman. Mary loved to share her memories of growing up on the family farm with her five siblings.

Mary was a devoted and loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed gardening, baking, crocheting, and was especially known for her talent of sewing, making many of her own clothes. One of Mary’s endearing qualities was her “quick wit” which would always make you laugh.

Mary was employed as a seamstress at a local factory during her early years of marriage. She was a lifetime member of Christ Lutheran Church of Niantic. She and Earl enjoyed traveling to many destinations in the United States and Europe.

Mary, a very caring person, took care of her mother with much devotion for seven years as her mother’s health declined.

Mary will always be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

A heartfelt “Thank You” is extended to the Aspen Staff at Frederick Living for the wonderful care and love Mary received.

Mary was predeceased by her two brothers, Paul Hoffman and Harold Hoffman; and her three sisters, Helen Bieber, Eva Meyers, and Ruth Allenbach.

A viewing will take place on September 23, 2022, from 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church of Niantic, 222 Niantic Rd., Barto, PA 19504. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place after the service in the church cemetery.
