Penny Drucquer

Obituary of Penny Drucquer

Millicent “Penny” (Pearson) Drucquer, 75, of Pottstown, PA, passed away on September 7, 2022, at Manatawny Manor. Born in Summit, NJ, on April 22, 1947, Penny was the daughter of the late William and Marilyn (Burley) Pearson, and stepdaughter of Eleanor Pearson.

Penny lived a full life dedicated to inspiring others to appreciate Mother Earth and her creatures, and doing her part to save our planet. She was a master gardener and helped others with her vast knowledge of plants. She also focused on healthy living and alternative approaches to healthcare. Penny was an avid self-learner as well as a creative artist.

Penny created many fond memories over her lifetime including horseback riding, brook hikes, ice skating on the lake and riding on the vintage fire engine in Cresco, PA, feeding deer and running the tennis club café at Buck Hill Falls, PA, and enjoying life at Hope Springs Farm in Blairstown, NJ, where she milked Elsie the cow and helped deliver lambs and raise an assortment of other animals. Also at Hope Springs Farm, Penny helped chase and sew hot air balloons for a friend who flew them from the farm. Later, Penny obtained her pilot's license and bought an airplane which she flew out of Farmer’s Pride Airport in Lebanon County.

Penny loved visiting the beach and creating shore memories with her grandparents in Bay Head, NJ, bodysurfing with her family, alfresco dinners in Mantoloking, NJ, and running her gardening business at the Jersey Shore. Skiing trips to Lake Tahoe and feasts of Dungeness crab, Anchor Steam Beer, and sourdough bread in Sausalito, CA, yearly Longwood Garden trips, and wading in the French Creek with her grandkids were also among her favorites.

After spending most of her life living in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and California, Penny transitioned to reside in Cape Canaveral, FL, and later in Titusville, FL. She took many trips to the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge where she enjoyed space launches, nightly sunsets on the bay, and moonrises over the ocean. Her last year was spent at The Tree House in Pottstown, PA, with her family, sharing her culinary secrets and observing an abundance of wild birds.

Many of her friends say that PENNY was the most interesting person they knew. SHE found joy in the small moments and the small things in the world. She was authentic, passionate, caring, and truly “one-of-a-kind.”

In addition to her stepmother, Eleanor Pearson, Penny is lovingly remembered by her sons, Chris Drucquer and Cole (& Jamie) Drucquer; her grandchildren, Kellan, Delaney, Finlay, Shanin, Austin, Madison, and Alex; her siblings, William (& Robin Firkser) Pearson, Christine Musa, Cynthia Pittenger, and Marilyn Washburn; and longtime family friend, John Wesson, and his companion, Phil Salemi.

Visitation will take place on October 8, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Houck & Gofus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown, PA 19464. A Life Celebration will follow at 11:00 a.m.
