John Stiver Jr.

Obituary of John T. Stiver Jr.

John “Jack” Theodore Stiver Jr., 63, of Stowe, PA, passed away on September 1, 2022, at Phoenixville Hospital. He was the husband of the late Marticia Denise (Levy) Stiver, until her passing on July 6, 2005.

Born in Pottstown, PA, on March 2, 1959, Jack was the son of the late John Theodore Stiver Sr. and Betty Ruth (Burket) Stiver.

Jack had a lifelong knack of tinkering around and making things work. This made him the perfect maintenance man for Manatawny Court Apartments on Beech Street in Pottstown, where he worked for many years. Shortly after he left Manatawny Court Apartments, Jack and his wife purchased a home near his family in Bedford, PA. They spent countless weekends and summers restoring the home with family and friends. Jack, Marti, and their three children lived there for only six months before Jack got homesick and decided to move back to Pottstown. After moving back to his hometown, he cared full-time for Marti, and worked as a musician playing in bands on the weekends.

He had a true love of music and grew up playing with his father in the barrooms with the band, Nashville Imitators and The Starliters Dance Band. He even met Marti at the Traumbaursville Hotel while he was playing, and they were married on February 4, 1979. He played lead guitar (and sometimes bass) for many bands over the years, including Good Tymers, The Rainbow Four Plus Two, and most recently, Road House Band, where his son, Jay, also played. In his spare time, Jack visited flea markets, yard sales, thrift stores, and anywhere he could find something to “fix up” at home. He especially enjoyed the times thrifting with his daughter, Nicole, or when he found an Electrolux vacuum or wringer washer to add to his collections. He had a passion for buying and restoring Cadillacs, and then driving them around town. He enjoyed eating Chinese food, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Butterfingers, and Tastykake cupcakes. Although Jack’s love of hobbies was important to him, family always came first.

He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He had the patience to teach Madison how to drive, he taught Jackson how to play guitar, and was invested in learning of Theo’s enrichment in school. His children and grandchildren meant the world to Jack, but his cats, Minnie and Tabby were his babies; he often said Minnie was his soulmate. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother, favorite uncle, and friend, who will be missed for his big heart and wonderful sense of humor!

Jack is lovingly remembered by his children, Danielle (& Scott) Dilworth, Nicole Stiver, and John Stiver; his grandchildren, Madison Boettger, Jackson Dilworth, and Theodore Dilworth; his great-granddaughter on the way, Amelia Moyer; his sisters, Donna Jones and Janice Monger; his best friends, Dale Hartman, Toby Toth, and Neil Kramer; and his cats, Minnie and Tabby.

In addition to his wife and parents, Jack is predeceased by his sisters, Bonnie Willman and Joyce Weil.
