James Graham

Obituary of James H. Graham

James H. Graham, 86, of Upper Pottsgrove Twp., PA, passed away on August 29, 2022, at Pottstown Hospital. He was the husband of the late Judie L. (Speece) Graham, who passed away in 2009.

Born in Pottstown, PA, on December 19, 1935, James was the son of the late William and Anna (Lichtley) Graham.

In his early years, Jim grew up in Pottstown, and told stories of how his brothers pulled him around in a wagon since he was unable to walk as a child. The Salvation Army heard of Jim's medical condition, and paid for the surgery on his legs which enabled him to walk and function as a normal child. After graduating from Pottstown High School in 1953, Jim joined the United States Army and served two years of active duty. After his honorable discharge in 1960, Jim worked as a tool and die maker before starting his career at Kulicke & Soffa. He became a design engineer who developed computerized machines to build low loop windings on computer processors; he had four patents in his name for the development of those machines. Outside of his strive to succeed in the business world, Jim had a love of deer hunting and archery; he proudly won a state longbow competition in 1963. He was a loving husband who adored his wife, Judie, and in the final years of his life, treasured every interaction with his kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, and his numerous friends from the Pottstown Elks. Every card, picture, and thank-you note from the great-grandkids were stuck to a corkboard next to his chair for him to admire regularly. Jim will be deeply missed by his family, including his cat, Cleo, who was his companion and lifeline since the loss of his soulmate, Judie, in 2009.

Jim is lovingly remembered by his sons, Gary (& Merelei) Graham and Jeffrey Longacre; his grandchildren, Ryan Graham, Micheal (& Kayla) Graham, Nicole (& Chris) Cox, Jordan Goodwin, Corey (& Samantha) Goodwin, and Brittney Goodwin; his 11 great-grandchildren; his brother, William Graham; and many nephews and nieces.

In addition to his wife and parents, Jim is predeceased by his son, John Longacre II; and his brothers, Harold Graham and Ralph Graham.
