Obituary of Darlene Rivel
On the 8th of August the year our Lord 2022, Darlene Rivel, the strongest person that I feel the world has known, passed away after battling cancer for 17 years. Born to Evelyn Elizabeth Binder and Darryl Allen Angstead in Jim Thorpe, PA, sister to Jenny Angstead and married to Neil Daniel Rivel and mother to Riley George Rivel.
Darlene was one to never back down from any challenge, from doing Spartan Races, to a half-marathon a year after a double mastectomy with TRAM flap operation, having a child when she was told that she couldn’t, and semi-taming her husband.
She was a champion of beating cancer: 2005-thyroid, 2008-breast, 2015-metastatic breast of the liver, 2020-metastatic breast of the brain, operation to remove a golf ball-sized tumor in 2020, and returned to work 3 days later. Unfortunately, all Champions never win them all.
She was a lover of turtles, chipmunks, Bret Michaels, the LA Lakers, the Tim Williams Band, and most of all her son, Riley.
Her departure from this world is a sad one, but the next has gained a great person with an even better soul. She left behind too many people to list who she loved and who loved her.
Darlene’s Celebration of Life has been scheduled for October 21, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Sly Fox Brewing Company, 331 Circle of Progress Dr., Pottstown, PA 19464. Please RSVP at https://www.signupgenius.com/
