Obituary of Thomas A. Ondik Sr.
Thomas A. Ondik Sr., 75, of Pottstown, PA, passed away on August 6, 2022, at Chester County Hospital. He was the husband of the late Linda L. (Ewing) Ondik, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage.
Born in Pottstown, PA, on July 17, 1947, Tom was the son of the late George J. Ondik Sr. and Johanna A. (Ragnone) Ondik.
Tom graduated from Pottstown High School in 1966, and shortly thereafter joined the United States Army, where he was honorably discharged in 1968. After his time in the military, Tom worked as a self-employed contractor before beginning his 32-year career with DANA Incorporated as a machine operator. Outside of work, Tom was a volunteer firefighter for Good Will Steam Fire Engine Co. #1 of Pottstown and West End Fire Co., served as the fire police captain for Sanatoga Fire Company, and ran ambulance in Pottstown. After retiring as a firefighter, Tom volunteered for fire police in the Pottstown and Sanatoga areas. In his spare time, Tom enjoyed building model cars, playing Backgammon, and listening to Led Zeppelin, ELO, and Pink Floyd, among many other rock bands.
Tom is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Heather Sarik; his son, Tom (& Sharon Foreman) Ondik Jr.; and his grandchildren, John Tyson, Kyleigh Ondik, Tyler Ondik, Luke Ondik, Christopher Rankin Jr., Michaela Foreman, Anthony Foreman, and Zachary Foreman.
In addition to his wife and parents, Tom is predeceased by his siblings, Susan Ondik, Joseph Ondik, and George Ondik Jr.
Visitation will take place on August 27, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Houck & Gofus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown, PA 19464. A Life Celebration will follow at 11:00 a.m. Military honors will take place after the service.
