Obituary of Harry H. Erb
Harry Hafer Erb, 95, of Wyomissing, PA, passed away on February 2, 2022, at Keystone Villa at Douglassville. He was the husband of the late Margaret L. (Gresh) Erb, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.
Born in Pottstown, PA, on January 10, 1927, Harry was the son of the late Harry and Lesta (Hafer) Erb.
Harry proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII on the USS Sutton (DE-771). After his honorable discharge in 1946, Harry began his 32-year career working as a quality control inspector for U.S. Axle in Pottstown, PA. He then worked in Naples, FL, for 10 years at Loos & Company, Inc., retiring in 1993. In his early years, Harry loved bowling and spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering on the Eagles and Phillies. Beyond all his hobbies, the thing that made Harry most happy was spending time with his loving family.
Harry is lovingly remembered by his children, Larry (& Emilie) Erb, Highlands Ranch, CO, Jeffrey (& Lori) Erb, Boyertown, PA, and Wendy (& Anthony) Butler, Pottstown, PA; his brother, James (& Sarah) Erb, Zieglerville, PA; his sister, Thelma (& Melvin) Swavely, Boyertown, PA; and his nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Harry is predeceased by his brother, Curtis Erb; and his grandson, Matthew Erb.
A viewing will take place on Monday, February 7, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Houck & Gofus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown, PA 19464. A Life Celebration will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment with military honors will take place after the service at Highland Memorial Park, 701 Farmington Ave., Pottstown, PA 19464.
