Pura Oliveira

Obituary of Pura Oliveira

Pura (Cuprill) Oliveira, 86, of Barto, PA, formerly of Fort Lauderdale, FL, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 13, 2021. She was the wife of the late William Oliveira, who passed away on September 21, 2019.

Born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, on December 6, 1934, Pura was the daughter of the late Juan and Consuelo (Hernandez) Cuprill.

Pura enjoyed traveling the world with her girls and husband and enjoyed her retirement in Florida. She loved walks on the beach with William, dancing, listening to praise music, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. She was a devoted great grandmother (GiGi), grandmother (Mama), mother, wife and sister. She spent every morning with God and her relationship with Jesus was very important to her. She wanted people to see Jesus when they spent time with her. She was compassionate and caring, volunteered at Hope Pregnancy Centers and was active in Bible studies. She was very stylish, always looking sharp, was a hopeless romantic, and a seriously competitive card player. Her grandchildren enjoyed serving her breakfast in bed with Fisher Price food (she tipped well!)

She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Deborah (& Daniel) Sheldon, Christine (& Damon) Grube, and Tammy (& Mark) Maioriello; her son-in-law, Thomas McMenamin; her brother, Daniel (& Karen) Cuprill; her grandchildren, Jared (& Carly) Sheldon, Danielle (& Matthew) Strauser, Timothy Sheldon, Christa Sheldon, Ian (& Brittany) McMenamin, Lindsay McMenamin, Daniel Grube, Joshua Grube, Jacob Grube, Mark Maioriello, Nico Maioriello, and Mateo Maioriello; and her great-grandchildren, Cotton, Milo, Spring, Tazryn, Iris, and Jagger.

In addition to her husband and parents, Pura is predeceased by her daughter, Elizabeth McMenamin; and her siblings, Carmen Dehlinger and Luisa Quinones.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, September 25, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Hope Community Church, 2732 N. Charlotte St., Gilbertsville, PA 19525.
