William Deihm

Obituary of William H. Deihm

William “Bill” H. Deihm, 81, of Lower Pottsgrove, PA, formerly of King of Prussia, PA, passed away on July 13, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Betty Jane (Hunsberger) Deihm, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.

Born in Norristown, PA, on April 8, 1940, Bill was the son of the late W. Harold and Selena Deihm, and stepson of the late Mary Carr Deihm.

Bill graduated from Norristown High School in 1958, and Pennsylvania State University in 1962, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi. Bill honorably served in the United States Army Reserves, and then began his career working for the Philadelphia Electric Company. While working, Bill took night classes at Drexel University and ultimately obtained his master’s degree in 1972. During his career, Bill supported and served in many capacities at the Delaware Youth Hockey League, where his son participated. Bill retired from the Philadelphia Electric Company in 1995, and was finally able to spend more time golfing, bowling, reading, solving crossword puzzles, and collecting wine for his extensive wine cellar. Even in retirement, Bill worked for the Wayne Senior Center as an accountant. Although Bill’s career and pastimes brought him great joy, his most cherished memories came from traveling and cruising with his wife to Hawaii, Caribbean, Europe, and New England. He was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed.

In addition to his wife, Bill is lovingly remembered by his son, Stephen L. (& Heather) Deihm; his granddaughter, Addyson Jane Deihm; his grandsons, Dylan Patrick Holland, Daniel William Holland, and Luke Richard Holland; his stepbrothers, Edward (& Rita) Carr and Patrick Carr; and his stepsister, Mary (& John) Maxey.
