Obituary of Francis X. McLaughlin

Francis Xavier McLaughlin, 61, of Lower Pottsgrove Twp., PA, passed away on May 11, 2021, at Seasons Hospice – Phoenixville Hospital. He was the husband of Diana (Smith) McLaughlin, with whom he shared 42 years of marriage.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, on August 12, 1959, Francis was the son of the late Edward and Catherine (Gildea) McLaughlin.

Francis graduated from Father Judge High School in Philadelphia, PA, in 1977, and then began his career as a buyer, working for various companies over the years. When he was able, Francis enjoyed traveling with his wife to the beach, especially to Florida and the Gulf of Mexico. When he was home, he liked to cheer on the Philadelphia Eagles and watch some of his favorite shows including Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, House Hunters, Storage Wars, and American Pickers. Although Francis loved to work and travel, his fondest memories came from spending time with his family, most especially with his precious grandchildren. 

In addition to his wife, Francis is lovingly remembered by his children, Diana (& Jason) Martin, Francis (& Heather) McLaughlin Jr., and Danielle McLaughlin; his grandchildren, Alexis, Rachel, Kaleigh, Peyton, Emilie, Jackson, Elijah, and Bentley; his siblings, Edward (& Elizabeth) McLaughlin, Mary Ann (& Lawrence) Costar, Catherine (& Robert) Knowles, Roseann Myers, Joseph McLaughlin, William (& Mary Beth) McLaughlin, Margaret (& David) Arcaro, and Helen (& Patrick) Welsh; his brother-in-law, Donald (& the late Virginia) Smith Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his granddaughter, Abbygail; his brother, Martin McLaughlin; his father-in-law, Donald Smith Sr.; and his mother-in-law, Esmeralda Smith.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, May 22, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Houck & Gofus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown, PA 19464. A Life Celebration will follow at 11:00 a.m. Please note, masks and social distancing will be required at the visitation and service.
