Obituary of Earl S. Wilson Jr.
Earl Solon Wilson Jr., 91, of North Coventry Twp., PA, passed away on December 29, 2020, at Tel Hai Retirement Community in Honey Brook, PA. He was the husband of the late Ruth (Callahan) Wilson, with whom he shared 34 years of marriage.
Born in Norristown, PA, on September 25, 1929, Earl was the son of the late Earl and Ruth (Hopple) Wilson.
Earl participated with the championship rifle team at Pennsylvania Military College, now known as Widener University. After his training, Earl served in the United States Army National Guard, and retired as First Lieutenant. He worked for most of his career as a draftsman; this allowed him to design and even build his own custom house. In his spare time, he enjoyed serving as a Scoutmaster and as a board member of the Owen J. Roberts School. He had a love for building model planes and flying. In fact, he almost received his pilot license, but instead switched his focus to raising his family. He enjoyed traveling to the beach, especially Ocean City, MD, where he boated on his two ships, At Ease and the Ebbtide.
Earl was a wonderful father and grandfather who blessed his family with his unconditional love. He will be greatly missed.
He is lovingly remembered by his children, Mark Wilson, Wendy Dorfler, wife of Mark, and Debra Wilson; and his grandson, Daniel Dorfler.
In addition to his wife and parents, Earl is predeceased by his son, Scott Wilson.
A graveside service with military honors will take place on Monday, January 4, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Memorial Park, 701 Farmington Ave., Pottstown, PA 19464.
