Mary Ann Knarr

Obituary of Mary Ann Knarr

Mary Ann (Grubb) Knarr, 85, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 3, 2020. She was the wife of the late Richard M. Knarr Sr., with whom she shared 54 years of marriage.

Born in Reading, on October 3, 1934, Mary Ann was the daughter of the late T. Lester and Pauline (Kaseman) Grubb.

Mary Ann, “Mother Knarr,” served in the role of Camp Cook at Camp Sankanac for 49 years. Her service at the Camp was distinguished by her desire to see both campers and staff grow in their Christian faith. She served tirelessly in all that she did so that others would know the Joy of her Savior Jesus. The endurance of her service gave testimony to the Camp’s theme verse in Zephaniah 3:17 “The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty.” Her heart’s desire was that others would know, love, and serve her Savior. Mary Ann lived her life to the Glory of God in the manner in which a man of God, the Apostle Paul described; “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:14 (NIV)

She is survived by her sons, Reverend Rick Knarr, husband of Barbara, Birdsboro, Mark Knarr, husband of Doris, Pottstown, and Najib Soufiane, Collegeville; her daughters, Marcia Hoffman, wife of Bryan, Boyertown, and Charity Wynne, wife of Jeff, Pottstown; her grandchildren, Jonathan (& Mary) Knarr, Joshua Knarr, Jacob (& Monica) Knarr, Jedediah Knarr, Emily (& Tim) Allebach, Joe Dedrick, Kyle (& Amy) Hoffman, Kelly Hoffman, and Emma Wynne; her five great-grandchildren; and her brother, Thomas Grubb, husband of Ann Marie.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her granddaughter-in-law, Pamela Snyder; and her great-grandchildren, Preston and Evelynn Rose.

Visitation will take place on September 9, 2020, from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Berean Bible Church, 2675 East High St., Pottstown, PA 19464.
