Obituary of Myrna Jacobson Rawdin

Myrna Jacobson Rawdin, age 80, of Lower Pottsgrove Township, PA,  passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.  She was the wife of Martin Rawdin, O.D., with whom she shared 61 years of marriage.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Pearl (Greenberg) Jacobson.

Myrna was a graduate of Girls High in Philadelphia, PA, and earned her BS and Master’s degrees in Education from Temple University.

An active member of Congregation Mercy & Truth Synagogue, she was involved with the Jewish Women’s League.  At a young age, her father taught her bookkeeping for their building business in Philadelphia. She used her accounting skills to help her husband later in life in his optometry business.

For 29 years, she enjoyed a career teaching the first grade, 22 of those at Lower Pottsgrove Elementary School.  Her interests included needlepoint, crocheting, bird watching, cooking for her family and synagogue events, reading mystery novels and, above all, being with her family.  Myrna learned at an early age to score baseball games and was a life-long Phillies fan. She watched Jeopardy regularly and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and cryptograms.  She loved ocean cruising with her husband and family.
