Obituary of Charles "Blackie" W. Blacketter
Charles “Blackie” W. Blacketter, 77, passed away on Friday, August 24, 2018 at his home in Douglassville, PA. He was the husband of Janet M. (Solt) Blacketter with whom he shared 53 years of marriage.
Born in Lehighton, PA on April 12, 1941, Blackie was the son of the late Charles W. Blacketter, Sr., and Lillian (Folkrod) Blacketter.
Blackie served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and watching the Phillies and Eagles.
He is survived by one son, David Blacketter, Pottstown, PA; two daughters, Cynthia Bailey, wife of George, Reading, PA and Susan Hetrick, wife of Charles, Limekiln, PA; six grandchildren, David, Heather B., Zachary, Renee, Megan, and Heather H.; and four great-grandchildren, Tristan, Logan, Nathan, and Kendell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his brother, James Blacketter and his sister, Betty Pantella.
A viewing will take place on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Houck & Gofus Funeral Home, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown, PA 19464. A Life Celebration will follow at 12:00 p.m. Interment with military honors will take place after the service at Highland Memorial Park.
