Catherine Mary (O’Donnell) Miller, a.k.a. “Kitty from the City,” passed away on October 26, 2022, in Las Vegas, NV at the age of 88. She was the wife of the late Albert E. Miller Sr., with whom she shared 56 magnificent years of marriage before he passed in 2013.
Born in the Fairmount section of Philadelphia, PA, on January 10, 1934, Catherine was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Humble) O’Donnell.
Catherine was a devoted mother who is lovingly remembered by her children, daughter Catherine Young (David), son Albert Miller, Jr. (John Baker), son Sean Miller (Julie), daughter Mary Friel (Paul), daughter Theresa Donnelly (John), and daughter Nancy Brezski (Jason). She was predeceased by her daughter, Cynthia Miller-Stein, wife of Joseph Stein. Catherine also leaves behind her brother, John O’Donnell (Sally Caldwell), 16 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Catherine was a dedicated homemaker until her children were grown, and then she spent 15 years working in the banking industry for Wells Fargo in Royersford, PA. She was a strong, intelligent, feisty, caring Mom to her 7 children, and taught them from an early age to be motivated, disciplined achievers. She was a wonderful grandmother who could always be counted on to babysit her many grandchildren and help their parents. She was a supportive wife and managed her household like a blue-chip business. Catherine gave herself completely and willingly to her family allowing each one of them to excel often at her own expense.
Catherine was a devout Christian and was a member of the St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother Parish for 43 years. She was a supporter of Catholic education and sent all her children to Catholic Schools from 1st through 12th grades, frequently volunteering her time and talents during this time. She loved visiting Shrines and attending Mercy Sunday services.
Catherine loved to travel domestically and internationally! She achieved her goal of visiting all 50 states, enjoyed many cruises, and was always planning a trip. She spent many family vacations happy and content on the beach listening to the waves and playing cards with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed watching her kids and grandkids play various sports, perform in plays and dance recitals, and she was so proud of each one of them. She had a lot of love to spread around to her large family and she did so by being present in all their lives. She was the consummate host and frequently brought the whole family together to celebrate for absolutely no reason at all. Kitty will be missed by all who knew and loved her, but she has left quite a cache of memories behind for us to continue to feel her love, pride, and joy!
