Esther A. (Stitzel) Geary, 91, of North Coventry Twp., PA, passed away on August 29, 2022, at Keystone Villa in Douglassville, PA. She was the wife of the late Paul M. Geary Jr., who passed away in 2007.
Born in Hamburg, PA, on June 22, 1931, Esther was the daughter of the late Clayton and Edna (Snyder) Stitzel.
Esther graduated from Hamburg High School in 1949, and worked for Sears at the Coventry Mall from 1981 until its closing in 2004. She then worked for Kohl’s for a few years until she ultimately retired in 2007. Esther and her husband were longtime members of Temple United Methodist Church and Blue Mountain Eagle Climbing Club; they maintained a section of the Appalachian Trail for over 30 years. In her spare time, Esther enjoyed birdwatching, spending time in nature, traveling through the New England states, visiting Cape May, NJ, and most importantly, spending time with her family. She was an amazing wife, mother, and “Greenmom” who will be deeply missed.
Esther is lovingly remembered by her children, Pamela (& The Reverend Gary) Nicholson, Steven (& Rebecca) Geary, and David (& Jodie) Geary; her grandchildren, Mark (& Anna) Nicholson, Rachel (& Lucas) Fultz, Colin Geary, Colby Geary, and Elizabeth Geary; two great-grandchildren, Blake Nicholson and Theodore Fultz; and her sister, Fern (& D. Eugene) Burkhart.
A viewing will take place on September 10, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Temple United Methodist Church, 1390 Unionville Rd., Pottstown, PA 19465. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family at Zion’s Cemetery of Perry Township in Hamburg, PA.
