Richard C. Strange

Richard “Dick” Clark Strange, 93, of Pottstown, PA, passed away on May 27, 2022, at Sanatoga Court. He was the husband of Rose Catherine (Menicucci) Strange, with whom he would have celebrated 73 years of marriage on July 8, 2022.

 

Born in Lebanon, PA, on July 15, 1928, Dick was the son of the late Earl and Geraldine (Clark) Strange.

 

Dick graduated from Pottstown High School in 1946, and shortly thereafter joined the United States Army Air Forces, until his honorable discharge in 1949. Dick then furthered his education by obtaining his bachelor’s degree from West Chester University and his Master’s in Education from Temple University. After graduating, Dick began his career as a music teacher for the Warwick School System, and then moved to be a history teacher for the Owen J. Roberts School District. He retired in 1985, and became a co-owner of the former Howard Street Pub. Outside of work, Dick was a faithful and longtime member of Christ Episcopal Church in Pottstown, where he participated in the choir. Dick was a talented musician who played the trumpet, trombone, and flugelhorn for various bands over the years including The Combos, Bob Eppehimer & His Orchestra, Arlen Saylor Orchestra, and The Bourbons.  

 

In addition to his wife, Dick is lovingly remembered by his children, Richard Strange, Earl (& Katherine Hedrick) Strange, and Laurie (& Rodney) Christman; his grandchildren, Rachel, Rebecca, Jason, Lauren, Aubrey, Rodney, Rachel, and Jesse; and his great-grandchildren.

 

In addition to his parents, Dick is predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Joan Strange; and his brothers, Earl Strange and Jack Strange.

 

A viewing will take place on Friday, June 3, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 316 E. High St., Pottstown, PA 19464. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place after the service at Highland Memorial Park, 701 Farmington Ave., Pottstown, PA 19464.
