Howard Francis Bowden, Jr., 88, of Pottstown, PA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 2, 2021. He was the husband of Barbara Ann (Bach) Bowden, with whom he would have shared 69 years of marriage on October 4, 2021.
Born in Spring City, PA, on June 28, 1933, Howard was the son of the late Howard and M. Pearl (Williams) Bowden.
Howard honorably served from 1953-1955 in the United States Army, where he played trumpet in the 8th Infantry Division Band in Fort Carson, CO. After his time in the military, he started his career at Keystone Drawn Steel Company in Spring City, PA, for 31 years. He then worked for Hatfield Quality Meats for 7 years, and retired in 1995. Howard and his wife were active and faithful members of Calvary Baptist Church in Pottstown, PA. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting for big and small game, but most importantly, he loved spending time with his family who will deeply miss him.
In addition to his wife, Howard is lovingly remembered by his children, Diane (& Keith) Nash, Pottstown, PA, Nancy (& Mark) Kumpf, Barto, PA, Timothy (& Debbie) Bowden, Stowe, PA, and Mary (& Scott) Zartman, Blandon, PA; his grandchildren, Rebecca Allen, David Nash, Joshua Kumpf, Matthew Kumpf, Eric Bowden, Bryan Bowden, Christine Schmidt, Devonna, Scott Zartman, and Marie Reber; his nephew, Robert Estes; and many great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Howard is predeceased by his granddaughter, Melissa Cremer; and his sister, Lois Knight.
Visitation will take place on October 15, 2021, from 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 2096 New Schuylkill Rd., Pottstown, PA 19465. A Life Celebration will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
