Randall “Randy” M. Purnell, Jr., 27, of Reading, PA passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 12, 2018.
Born in Pottstown, PA on June 16, 1990, Randy was the son of Theresa Boothe, wife of Todd Boothe and Randall M. Purnell, Sr., significant other of Bonnie Kleintop.
Randy graduated from Pottstown High School in 2009 and Valley Forge Military Academy in 2011. He then went on to Gwynedd Mercy University. Randy played basketball and football for the Pottstown School District and wrestled for PAL (Pottstown Area Police Athletic League). Although Randy was a workaholic and moneymaker, he was also a giving and loving person that always put others before himself. Even in his passing he continued to give by being a Gift of Life donor for childhood cancer. He will be greatly missed by all of his friends and family!
In addition to his parents he is survived by his significant other, Keyaundra Williams; one sister, Alicia Purnell; two step-sisters, Dekeisha Mitchell and Archima Boothe; two nephews, Jaquay Washington and Michael Daniels; three nieces, Kyiah Oglesby, Arnashia Boothe, and Graycyn Hope Purnell, who was also Randy’s goddaughter; paternal grandparents, Robert Purnell, Sr. and Dorris Reddick; maternal grandfather, Jacob Breyer; aunts and uncles, Margaret and Rich Kizina; Tamara Charles, significant other of James; Robert Jr. and Theresa Purnell; and many cousins and friends.
He is predeceased by his brother, Donald “Donny” J. Purnell; maternal grandmother, Margaret Charles; and his maternal great-grandparents, Donald and Florence Stone.
A candlelight vigil will take place on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at the Olivet Boys & Girls Club, 658 Beech St., Pottstown, PA 19464. A Life Celebration will take place on Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Pottstown Senior High School Gymnasium, 750 N. Washington St., Pottstown, PA 19464. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Houck & Gofus Funeral Home, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown, PA 19464 will be handling the arrangements.
