Obituary of Kenneth Murray
Kenneth L. Murray, age 92, died peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Seasons Hospice located in the Phoenixville Hospital.
He was born in Pottstown Landing on June 28, 1925. He was a son of the late Arthur and Anna (Cook) Murray.
Ken served two years in the Army during WWII. He received a Purple Heart after he was wounded during combat in Italy.
He retired from Fetterolf Corporation in Skippack, PA where he worked as a machinist for 15 years.
He was a longtime active member of the First Baptist Church in Pottstown, PA. Ken was an avid Eagles, Phillies, and Penn State fan.
The last two and half years he resided at the Southeastern Veterans’ Center in Spring City, PA. He enjoyed living at the veterans’ center and participating in the activities there.
He is survived by three daughters, Mary Jane, wife of Donald Blew; Linda, wife of James Schubert; and Nancy, wife of Albert Munro; five grandchildren, Lori, Michele, Amy, Michael, and Erin; seven great-grandchildren, Rachel, Jared, Kaitlyn, Courtney, Jessica, Carmine, and Tenley.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Fern and his second wife, Gladys.
A viewing will take place on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at the Houck & Gofus Funeral Home, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown, PA 19464. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 am. Interment will take place after the service at Mt. Zion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ken’s memory to First Baptist Church, 301 King St., Pottstown, PA 19464 or to the Southeastern Veterans’ Center, 1 Veterans Dr., Spring City, PA 19475.
