Obituary of Daniel Bause, Jr.

Daniel E. Bause, Jr., 91, of Boyertown, PA passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Reading Hospital. He was the husband of the late Betty (Karver) Bause with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.

Born in Pottstown, PA in September 1925, Daniel was a son of the late Daniel E. Bause, Sr. and Mattie (Burdan) Bause.

Mr. Bause graduated from Boyertown High School in 1943 and the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy & Science in 1950. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He owned and operated Bause’s Super Drug Store, retiring in 1990. Mr. Bause was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Masonic Lodge #741, American Legion Post #471, and the zoning hearing board all of Boyertown, PA. He was also a former member, past president, and secretary/treasurer of the Boyertown Rotary Club.

He is survived by one son, Daniel E. Bause III, husband of Roberta of Huntersville, NC; two daughters, Martha A., wife of Frederick Endy, Jr., of Boyertown, PA and Catherine F. Pescatore, of Denville, NJ; one brother, David F. Bause, husband of Jan of Pottstown, PA; one sister, Nancy Osterman, wife of the late John; one sister-in-law, Betty Jane Karver; four grandchildren, Thomas Endy, Daniel Endy, Elizabeth Litherland and Jeffrey Bause; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he is predeceased by one brother, Carl Bause; one sister, Jane Hicks; and one great-grandchild.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of N3, N4, and Heartland Hospice for the care they provided at Reading Hospital.

A viewing will take place on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 9:30-11:00 am at the Houck & Gofus Funeral Home, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St. Pottstown, PA 19464. A Life Celebration will take place following the viewing at 11 am. Interment will take place after the service at Pottstown Cemetery West.
