Obituary of Charles "Charlie" Minnick

Charles “Charlie” E. Minnick, 71, of Pottstown, PA passed away on February 25, 2017 at Manor Care surrounded by his loved ones especially his favorite daughter, Christina. He was the husband of Brenda L. (Lightcap) Minnick with whom he shared 35 years of marriage.

Charlie was born August 22, 1945 in Lancaster, PA. He was a son of the late Norman Minnick and Gladys (Splain) Minnick.

He enjoyed collecting Hess trucks, airplanes, coins, and eagles. Charlie loved to go fishing with his father-in-law, his son “Bear”, and son-in-law Barry at Indian River Inlet and the pier at Cape Henlopen where we would always hear him echoing, “get the net…get the net”. He loved his birds and Lil Coco. His fondest times were going to Camp Swatara in Bethel, PA with his church family. His greatest pleasure in life was spending time with his grandchildren and children, especially at Cape Henlopen in Lewis, DE. Charlie was always able to find something good in someone, which is why everyone loved him.

In addition to his wife he is survived by:

Four Children: Michele Katzin and her husband, Barry – Birdsboro, PA

Christina Weiss – Pottstown, PA

Charles “Bear” Minnick and his wife, Jaime – Norristown, PA

April Minnick and her significant other, Scott Jones – Pottstown, PA

Eight Grandchildren: Alexis, Savannah, Angel, Chloe, Scotty, Aiden, Jenna and Cameron

Three Brothers: Norman, Ben, and Sam Minnick

Father and Mother-in-law: Alvin and Edith Lightcap

Brother and Sister-in-law: Brad and Karen Willauer

In addition to his parents he is pre-deceased by:

One Brother: Butch Minnick

Two Sisters: Ruth Kropleski and Rose Minnick

Charlie retired from Owen J. Roberts School District in 2008 as their District Maintenance Man. He and his family were members at Parker Ford Church of the Brethren for 35 years. Charlie was involved in the church choir. He loved his singing and he loved his dancing. Right up to the very end, he would still hum and whistle to his music.

A special thanks to Kim R., Kim Y., June, Barry, Arlene, Sue, Tia, Shina, Tammy, Tonya, Vanessa, and Heartland Hospice who took care of Charlie.
